Neopatents Contributes to Duke University Study on

Formation of Technology and Engineering Companies.

RALEIGH, NC (January 4, 2007) - - Neopatents’ Spore software was used recently in a Duke University study on the contributions of educated immigrants to technology and engineering in the United States. Spore software was used to estimate the number of foreign nationals living in the United States that were named as inventors or co-inventors on international patent applications filed in the United States. The percentage increased greatly from 7.3 in 1998 to 24.2 in 2006. The research team hopes that the study can help inform national debate on the issue of immigration. A press release regarding the study is available here. The full text of the study, “America's New Immigrant Entrepreneurs,” is available here.
