Software Engineer
We are looking for a smart, creative, curious, proactive and team player to join us as a Software Engineer to drive further development of its state-of-the-art patent analytics platform. The ideal candidate must be excited by the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, start-up environment that provides direct access to upper-level management and a tremendous opportunity to steer the direction of the company’s product lines.
Position Description:
The SE is responsible for delivering on all facets of product development for Neopatents’ software product lines. The SE will play a vital role in the development group and should be comfortable:
- Leading and mentoring junior developers to produce high quality products using the latest technologies;
- Performing day-to-day programming on a complex, distributed software platform;
- Contributing to the overall technical architecture;
- Communicating with upper-management internally and customers externally.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent
- A thorough knowledge of software engineering best practices with a proven track record of implementing creative solutions both as an individual and on a team.
- Strong understanding of object-oriented concepts, design patterns and development processes
- Minimum of 5 years structured software development experience
- Minimum of 2 years experience in relational database design and modeling using MS SQL Server 2000/2005+
- Minimum of 3 years experience in web based user interface design using ASP.NET and C# or equivalent (JSP, EJB, Ruby on Rails, etc).
- Minimum of 4 years experience in C#/.NET development or equivalent (Java or C++)
- Efficient SQL programming skills with MS SQL Server 2000/2005.
- Solid understanding of Web technologies (HTML, CSS, DHTML, AJAX, SOA, XML, XSL, etc.)
- Exceptional verbal and written communications skills
- Comfortable in a fast-paced and cutting-edge development environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with build scripts and software release best practices
- Experience with patents, either as an inventor or otherwise

PATENT ANALYST
Job Description:
The Patent Analyst will engage with clients and their technology to develop strategic plans and maps of the patent landscape. The Analyst will utilize Neopatents proprietary patent search and analysis software to accomplish the above. The position requires a strong technical mind, the ability to quickly and efficiently learn new technologies, creativity, and solid problem solving skills. Strong technical writing skills are a must as is a curiosity in learning about new technologies and how to better utilize them.
Responsibilities include:
• Researching patent and technical data
• Analyzing trends and relationships in data
• Collaborating with clients and other analysts
• Presenting findings in written reports and oral presentations
Required Background:
The Patent Analyst position requires a strong technical background in an engineering or scientific discipline. A strong curiosity in patents and new technologies is necessary and experience with patents is a plus.
