Triangle Business Journal recognizes JiNan Glasgow with 40 Under 40 Leadership Award
RALEIGH, N.C. (May 12, 2005) — In recognition of significant achievements in her career, JiNan Glasgow was awarded the Triangle Business Journal’s 2005 40 Under 40 Leadership Award. JiNan is co-founder, president and CEO of Spore, Inc., an intellectual property (IP) consulting services and software company in Raleigh. The annual award honors the top community and business leaders, under the age of 40, in the Triangle area for significant accomplishments in their careers.
The awards were presented Friday, May 6, during a black tie dinner and reception at Northridge Country Club. Recipients must hold a position of distinction in their organizations, have significant achievements in their careers in the last year, be less than 40 years of age, and demonstrate substantial involvement in community service outside the performance of their day-to-day jobs.
JiNan started her own patent law practice, the Glasgow Law Firm, fresh out of UNC law school in 1998. JiNan was successful in building her law practice and developed the Spore patent mapping and analysis software tools to streamline services and communication with clients. The Spore software tools were so helpful to her clients, JiNan established Spore, Inc. in 2002 to provide full IP consulting services and to further develop the software to its commercial grade available today.
JiNan shares her time and expertise with the local and international communities. She participated on the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UN/ECE) to assist other countries, particularly developing economic countries, with improving economic activity based upon commercializing intellectual property using Spore’s software suite. Additionally, JiNan serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Raleigh Food Cooperative and volunteers to teach intellectual property courses to graduate and MBA students at NC State University.
JiNan is a member of many professional associations, including the Triangle Intellectual Property Law Association, the North Carolina Bar Association, the Society for Competitive Intelligence Professionals, and the Council for Entrepreneurial Development, and TIE Carolinas, among others. Her educational background includes degrees in engineering, law and theology from NC State University, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and Duke University, respectively.
